Installation Instructions
Contractor Removable Ladder Rack. "Weekender Style"
- Take the receiver tube and upper mounting bracket and place it approximately in the location you intend to install it. Establish the best direction of the lower mounting foot. Optimally, place it facing either fore or aft with both mounting holes atop the same rib. If your truck bed is curved, or for any reason the foot has to face the interior of the bed, and one mounting hole will not sit on a rib, us 1/4" flat washers to shim under the hole for the most secure installation. Check the location of the upper mounting bracket to make sure the mounting bolts will not interfere with the stake pockets if it's future use is important.
-
Mark and drill the holes for the upper bracket with a 5/16" drill bit. Using a center punch will minimize the chance of the spinning bit sliding and either scratching the paint or drilling the hole in the wrong location. Place the receiver tube and upper bracket in position and hand tighten the 1/4" bolts, nuts, flats, and lock washers.
-
Use a square or level to vertically align the receiver tube to the bed of the truck. Mark the location of the holes in the bed of the pickup, center punch, and drill the 5/16" holes.
-
Complete the installation by tightening all bolts with wrenches.
- CHECK the bolts periodically to make sure the vibration of the truck has not loosened the nuts.
NOTE: The load carrying capacity of your removable rack will be impacted by the effects of shock loading--the up and down motion caused by rough road conditions and the stiffness of the suspension of your pickup. Adjust the weight of your load to compensate for shock loading.
